A time for reflection

On 10 October 2020, all political leaders, candidates and their supporters were invited to join together in holy prayer at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, in a bid to foster peace and unity in this high-tension election period. All key leaders were notably in attendance, although President Faure raised many eyebrows by leaving soon after the special service began.

It was an important and valuable opportunity for reflection for those in attendance, and a prime occasion to remind the public that we were all Seychellois until ethnicity and race disconnected us, religion separated us, politics divided us and wealth classified us. It must always be borne in mind that we are not orange first, green first, red first etc; we remain Seychellois first.
